Program Overview and Purpose

The Adventure & Ability School Holiday Program by Safe Care NSW offers a fun, inclusive, and supportive holiday experience for children and young people. Participants enjoy a variety of creative, recreational, sensory, and community-based activities, including sports, arts and crafts, cooking, music, group games, outings, and life skills.

The program helps participants build confidence, independence, social skills, friendships, and community participation in a safe and structured environment. It also supports NDIS goals while providing families with engaging and meaningful school holiday support.

Program Activities

The Adventure & Ability School Holiday Program provides a balanced mix of indoor, outdoor, creative, recreational, sensory, cultural, and community-based activities during the school holiday period.

NDIS Goals and Capacity Building Outcomes

The Adventure & Ability School Holiday Program provides a safe, engaging, and goal-focused holiday experience that encourages confidence, independence, social participation, and personal growth. Through a mix of structured activities, community outings, creative experiences, recreational play, sensory activities, and life skills, participants stay active, connected, and supported throughout the school holidays.

Safety, Supervision, Transport and Support

The Adventure & Ability School Holiday Program is delivered with a strong focus on safety, supervision, structure, and participant wellbeing throughout the school holiday period.

Structured & Planned Days

Each day is carefully organised with clear routines, planned activities, staffing, transport, and safety considerations to ensure a smooth and supportive experience.

Individualised Participant Support

Support is tailored to each participant’s communication, sensory, behavioural, and emotional needs, including help with transitions and regulation strategies.

Safe & Inclusive Activities

Participants are supported to engage in creative, recreational, sensory, social, and community-based activities with appropriate supervision and safe use of equipment.

Health, Wellbeing & Safety Measures

Considerations include allergies, dietary needs, medications, sun safety, hydration, weather conditions, rest breaks, and ongoing risk awareness.

Clear Communication & Transport Coordination

Families are kept informed of schedules, requirements, and transport arrangements, with pick-up and drop-off plans confirmed to ensure safety and clarity.

Family and Carer Communication

Safe Care NSW understands that school holiday programs require strong communication with families and carers to ensure each participant is supported safely and effectively throughout the program.

Before the Adventure & Ability School Holiday Program begins, families may be asked to provide or update important participant information, including NDIS goals, support needs, communication preferences, dietary requirements, allergies, medication requirements, behaviour support strategies, sensory needs, personal care requirements, and emergency contact details.

Program information is shared with families in advance where possible, including planned activities, daily schedules, transport arrangements, items to bring, location details, and any relevant safety or weather updates

Program Media and Resources

Safe Care NSW uses photos, videos, and flyers to showcase the fun, inclusive, and purposeful activities delivered through the Adventure & Ability School Holiday Program.

Our school holiday program media highlights participants engaging in a variety of structured, creative, sensory, recreational, cultural, and community-based activities during the school holiday period.

These resources give families, support coordinators, schools, and referral partners a clear understanding of the program experience and the positive outcomes participants are supported to achieve.

All media is selected to reflect Safe Care NSW’s focus on safety, inclusion, dignity, engagement, community participation, and capacity building.
