What is the NDIS?
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a national program that provides funding and support to Australians living with a permanent or significant disability.
It’s designed to help people with disability achieve their goals, increase independence, and take part fully in their community.
Through the NDIS, participants receive individualised funding that can be used to access supports and services that meet their specific needs. The NDIS focuses on giving participants choice and control allowing you to choose who provides your supports and how they are delivered.

The Three Main Parts of an NDIS Plan?
Each NDIS plan has three main types of funding (called budgets). Here’s what they mean in simple terms:
🏠 1. Core Supports
These help you with day-to-day needs, such as:
Personal care (showering, dressing, meals).
Community participation and social activities.
Transport and respite.
💪 2. Capacity Building Supports
These help you learn new skills, build independence, and work towards your goals. This includes:
Therapy services (OT, Speech, Physio, Exercise Physiology).
Support Coordination.
Health and wellbeing programs.
Building relationships and communication skills.
⚙️ 3. Capital Supports
This budget covers bigger, one-off items like:
Assistive technology (wheelchairs, mobility aids).
Home or vehicle modifications.
Safe Care NSW can guide you through all three categories — explaining how your funding works and helping you use it wisely to reach your goals
